this is product info from the gigabyte GA-8N-SLI QUAD ROYAL mobo info
seriously, what does this mean:

2x PCI-Express x16 Slots (Support ATI CrossFire; Support PCI-Express 2.0); 3x PCI-Express x1 Slots

i am new to pci express, why are there x16 and x1 slots.
can i run an nvidia 9800 gx2 in the x1 slot? and the x16?
will there be a difference in performance if this is possible?

i am trying to find a mobo that can run and fit four 9800 gx2 vcards. any suggestions?

btw i call bfg and they said i could run 4 9800gx2 cards they just didn't know with what? pointed me towards gigabytes

No such motherboard exists...Tri SLI boards do with the 790i nvidia

after further investigation i agree.
my bad, learning

now i'm at the point of trying to look at the Front Side Bus speeds.
really only the extreme editions of the intel quads run at 1600mhz.

do i need to match my chip FSB with the mobo FSB?

if i don't get a CPU with 1600mhz, maybe 1333 mhz, am i wasting money on a mobo with 1600mhz?

1600FSB is only achievable through overclocking of the bus...
