View Full Version : Mackie D's - FREE Chicken Biscuit/Chicken Sammich [w/Drink Purchase]
I've tried them both, and they are kinda close to Chick-Fil-A. Now I can get my craving for a chicken sammich taken care of on Sundays!

I tried their chicken sandwich, they were running a promo here where if you bought a large iced tea for a dollar they'd give you a free chicken sandwich or a chicken biscuit...
FAR and away THE WORST chicken sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. The bun also qualifies as the worst piece of bread I've ever had. Including one that had cat hair in it in Paris.
Very... VERY bad.
DO NOT take this free sandwich.
I like all of their other chicken sandwiches... but I repeat DO NOT try this one.

I recommend watching Morgan Spurlock's documentary entitled "Super Size Me". It cured me of any desire to eat fast food  The lowest I'll go on the food chain is National Coney.
Ironically, I used my coupon yesterday. So I ask: "What sauce is on there?"
Cashier: "Butter"
Me: "Excuse me?"
Cashier: "Butter"
Me: "Leave the butter off"
So I guess they aren't trying to hide it now. Instead they straight up put butter on the sandwich, as if there wasn't enough already. I had my calories for the week yesterday, haha.
The chicken was rather tasty though. The roll sucked as was mentioned above, I wish I could have gotten the biscuit, but I don't think I'll be going back at breakfast time to each a chicken sandwich with butter on it.
Matt
I read in TIME mag that a full McD meal = 1500 Calories and very bad source of calories I might add. No more free sandwiches for me from McD.

Seconded. Free was not a bargain.
I'm a Chick-Fil-A fiend, and these do the job nicely when I don't feel like driving to CFA.

I'm pretty much convinced that McDonalds and other fast food restaurants are a form of population control. Sandwiches such as "the Baconater" and any number of JIB's various "ultimate" sandwiches...known by me as the "Ultimate Bacon Heartattack". The fast food restaurants should adopt a logo like Burger Shot in GTA, the blood dripping from the sandwich :p
Although, I will say the new McCafe coffees are not bad...for the money.

Supersize Me is fun agitprop, and really shouldn't be taken as anything more than a fun look at what making unhealthy menu choices can do to someone who doesn't excercise much. Yes, you get fat and unhealthy.
I read in TIME mag that a full McD meal = 1500 Calories and very bad source of calories I might add. No more free sandwiches for me from McD.
Right, no matter what you order, it's 1500 calories. Please.
I eat breakfast there a few times a month, I get a McSkillet Burrito with no sausage, a hash brown, and orange juice. The burrito is quite filling, and has 440 calories, 21 grams of fat. A hash brown is 140 calories, 8 grams of fat. The small OJ has 140 calories, no fat, and plenty of vitamin C. 720 Calories for a very satisfying breakfast that holds me over until mid-late afternoon. And it costs under 5 bucks.
If you are going to these places and ordering double quarter pound burgers with cheese, giant buckets of soda, and a half pound of fries, of course you are going to be a fat *******. They DO have sensible options though..

the southern style chicken is a steamed bun with margarine and two pickles with a POS "crispy chicken patty" -- the chicken itself is tasteless and is almost as soggy as the bun.
In the next coming months mcdonalds will be getting a 1/3lb burger, keep an eye open for a special on that. (probably something similar to the buy one get one free type deal.)

No kiddin'. I just looked up that 'National Coney' thing someone mentioned as the 'lowest on the food chain' they would go, and it's just a friggin Denny's or Abdow's knockoff, and every bit as nasty as 'fast food'...
I know some people who refuse to eat 'fast food' after seeing Supersize Me or reading Fast Food Nation, but they line right up to eat the same garbage at places like Ruby Tuesday or Cheesecake Factory. If anything it's even MORE unhealthy than the so-called 'fast food.' Why do you think places such as Outback Steakhouse and Cheesecake Factory only publish nutritional facts for their 'diet' offerings, and not the 2000+ calorie Bloomin' Onion or 3000+ calorie Aussie Cheese Fries?

Good point. There was an article on MSN a month or so back on just this. They compared a Big Mac/quarter pounder with cheese and fries to a burger/fry platter from Chili's. I don't remember the exact number, but Mcdonald's was somewhere around 900-1000 calories while Chili's was upwards of 1700-2000 calories (no soda on either mind you). Neither are the healthiest options out there, but just because it's labeled 'fast food' doesn't automatically make it the worst and most unhealthy choice possible. That being said, I avoid Mcdonald's like the plague. I'd rather eat at Wendy's or Carl's Junior for less money and get tastier food.

I prefer Burger King over McDonald's. I used to love McDonald's, but now that I'm older I just don't like the taste anymore. :( Burger King has an authentic grill taste (I don't give a **** what they use, it tastes like a grill) while McDonald's burgers are just... bland. The last two times I've gotten burgers from Wendy's they were completely soaked in grease. It's not that I didn't like the grease, but these things tasted like they were dumped in a bucket of water. Soggy mush. I haven't gone to Wendy's since, although their chicken strips are good. Burger King though has to be my favorite "fast food" joint. Then comes Duchess! Excellent bacon egg and cheese on the go!
 for Outback steaks!!
I dont care for mickey ds, but I eat there maybe 2-3 times a year when traveling ect.
As for burgers, I prefer to go to the strip district, buy 20# of ground beef, and make my own burgers.

The percentage of the American population in the obese category has more than doubled in the past 15 years. So uhm, yeah, I guess bashing Mcdonalds food is inappropriate

Nice spin. Do you know anyone that actually sits down and eats an entire 2000+ calorie Bloomin' Onion all by themselves? Of course not! It's an appetizer that is typically shared by an entire table, and many times the whole thing doesn't get eaten. The key here is moderation.
Furthermore, a National Coney or Denny's absolutely has a much wider range of healthier food options than any fast food chain. Of course not everything on the menu will be healthy, but to categorize the whole restaurant as "every bit as nasty" based on just a part of the menu is insane. They also generally give you much larger portions then you get at a fast food joint, so of course comparing calories is going to make the sit-down restaurants look bad.
When I go to National, which is not that often, I tend to order a Buffalo burger & a salad and I always have leftovers. Crapdonalds has nothing close to comparable on their menu that is either that tasty or that healthy. No fast food chain does.
Eating healthy is about moderation and making good decisions.

Again, you have to normalize the portions for any comparison to be meaningful. Restaurant A handing out more food than restaurant B will tend to make A look less healthy, as their calorie count is likely to be higher.
But I have to agree that Mcdonald's is the worst of the worst. If I absolutely must eat fast food it won't be there.

Thanks for reminding of us the obvious again. So I'll do the same. There's nothing sinful about it if it's in moderation.

what about the $1 sweet tear thats 95% ice ?
I always wondered whether or not people go to McDs to get party food? They have those commercials showing people making party platters out of quarter-pounders and such. It would be interesting to know if people actually do that for their guests.

Low weight doesn't mean you are healthy.
Of course you could be anyway because of your lifestyle.
But we are mostly talking about TASTE here.
Yeah, my brother had a girlfriend a few years back that looked like she was in great shape, but she drank/smoked, never worked out, and ate fast food for virtually every meal. I know that sounds nasty, but you would never know it from her looks. However, she went to the doctor and found out her cholesterol was almost at a fatal level and she had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks while they detoxed and medicated her.
Their wraps are remarkable. Get a wrap with some honey mustard, like seriously are you kidding me?
it's delicious

i've already tried the 'bacon and cheese' and 'mushroom and swiss' varieties of the 1/3rd pound burger. it was under promotion, though i can't remember the details. i favor the mushroom and swiss by far with the awesome (though almost certainly fattening) cheese sauce. the bacon and cheese burger was nondescript and i actually regretted purchasing it. neither burger is really that great but the mushroom and swiss really isn't that bad.
the patties of these new burgers have the same 'odd smell' as the rest of mcdonald's burgers. i try not to think about it and the smell disappears once you start eating (disgusting, i know).
i'll probably try the new sandwich this weekend just out of curiosity. mcdonald's recent chicken sandwiches really do suck ass and are just incredibly crappy :p
--
regarding the mcd's-party thing, once, when i was a kid, my parents bought a huge load of mcdonald's cheeseburgers to feed us kids at a party. it wasn't a bad experience by far. i was a fat lil kid back then and i certainly enjoyed stuffing my face full with burgers :p

body weight is meaningless. you could be 23 years old, 135 pounds, 5'10" and OBESE but look perfectly 'normal.'

Agreed as well. I would only get McDonalds if it was the only thing around and even then it would be through the drive through and for a chicken salad or something...
Wendy's and SONIC I'm more open to eating at for sure.

Ha, you ALL know you use to reaking love Happy Meals and McD's when you were kids! Its like impossible not to.
Now, yeah no matter what they put on their menu its pretty bad. I always feel kinda sick after eating it. Which is good, means I don't have to eat there anymore.
And the Southern Style is a pretty weak immatation of the Chickfila. Umm, eat more chicken!

You know my friends tell me that every time I eat mcdonalds, or drink a beer I lose XXX amount of minutes of my life. I have since realised that I waste 8 hours of my life every day doing a thing called "work" so I can justify a few minutes but doing or eating something I enjoy.
