View Full Version : Intel overclock better than AMD???
Can anyone confirm me that Intel cpus can change their multiplier?
Anyone know anything about the "Red Storm" bios on intel mobos?

Please, go on luie. I don't fully understand what you are talking about, but I am interested. What do you mean by "Red Storm" on intel mobo's??

try a search on google.com?
i hear intel cpus can go to like 20x multis.. and im guessing amd's only go to 12.5x or 13x. the new althon xp 2100/2200+ may have a higher multi seeing there getting alot faster..
not office info.... just my thoughts :)

I thought intel multipliers are locked and u can only change the fsb.

IMO... red storm seems like cheating or absolute lazyness.... I, personally, enjoy changing the fsb myself and finding that sweet spot... rather than have a piece of hardware or software (bios) do it for me... just my $0.02;)
more info can be found in this thread.

AMD definately provides an easier overclock with the Athlon and Duron as the multiplier is easily unlocked. (not the XP) that is a little tougher... Plus the Athlon 1.2 and up comes unlocked!

i dunno, even if i had an amd (i wish i did) i would still use the fsb only because fsb makes more of a difference than cpu speed......and you cant take away from the fact that intels are amazing ocers......
Celly 300A-450guaranteed....many people reached 600
PIII700E-most people got thers to 933, some to 1050
PIII1GHZE-1.2 Guaranteed, most people get 1333, and some get 1400+
Celeron Tualatin(1.0,1.1,1.2,1.3)- 1400guaranteed, most get 1500, some get 1600+
thats some shweet history right there, and the northwoods look to be even better :)
i dont give a **** if i cant unlock a multiplier if i can get that nice of an oc just raising the fsb.....the only AMD chips i know that can stack up are the 1GHZ AXIA (most people get 1.4, some get 1.5+)
and the 1600+ (most people get between 1600-1800mhz out of these).......i wouldnt say that AMDs oc better than Intels, it all depends on which chip you choose....
With amd's even if you get a crappy overclocker by unlocking it you can still raise your fsb as high as your memory and componet's can take and with a 1/5 and 1/6 divider the only thing stopping the fsb is the memory.
Im at 173fsb, now if I could only get some memory that can run 200mhz at cas 2.
