hi,

my bootup time takes around 40seconds in winxp, which is quite slow for my specs.

Heres the startup list:

Systray
Rundll32
Elbycheck
Nerocheck
Avgcc32
ADGDet
Updreg
CTregrun
Microsoft office
Epson Status Monitor

Which ones are safe to remove?

thanx:)

Don't know what all you have there, but Microsoft Office is a killer. Stop it from running at start up for sure!

Hmm...

Can you be more specific and post the main roots of where those Reg entries?

Try using bootvis to speed up your boot process.
Go to http://www.xp-erience.org and tweak up your system.

You defintely have to have more than 256 Ram to run Win XP correctly or the boot time you get are sort of correct like my brother had 128 ram and his XP would kind of half boot and when you try to run something 40 secs later they respond since the files are still being processed.

Microsoft Office you can remove for sure.
Epson Status monitor guessing towards your printer? You can probably remove that too.

Just don't remove something related to the Windows root operating system itself like Rundll32 :d

I honestly don't think 40 seconds is to bad for bootup.

Hmm I thought he was talking from the moment it gets into the Win XP where the monitor flickers and your in the login screen and from the point you login it takes 40 secs.

Modify auto-reboot setting
Since Microsoft has worked so hard to make this version "the most stable ever," then this tweak is not needed. However, I am fairly sure that they have not perfected millions of lines of code in less than a year. Below you will discover how to turn the auto reboot feature on and off. This allows your computer to instantly reboot upon a system fault. (The blue screen)

Start Regedit.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > CrashControl
Select AutoReboot from the list on the right.
Right on it and select Modify.
Change the value to 0 to disable and 1 to enable.
Reboot your computer

Have fun i personaly Used them all =p and my pc works great ( well besides the auto reboot bull $hit)

you can kill everything in that list...none are absolutely necessary at start-up...
