Cable Modem!!!

hey guys first things first~~ HAPPY NEW YEAR~~


im jumpin with joy as the cable co. came and installed my cable modem but they couldnt get the connection on because some other part of their outfit would need to turn something on in a cabinet somewhere ,
so he tells me soon as the first 4 lights are on solid thats it so i been looking at them flashing for ages and 2mins ago came ON yee-haa ,
now i know what the fuss is all about;)
as instant webpages etc an the speed of d/loads
youd never guess im happy!!

BTW the mode is a motorola SURFboard 4100
as far as cable modems go have i done good?

You should be a very happy camper! The modem is one of the cable techs favorites, plus you have access to diagnostics page for it too! I wish I had a way to access diagnostics on my Toshiba PCX1100.

Heres the diagnostics page (http://192.168.100.1/signal.html) it tell you how good your signal is. from what Ive read the downstream power level should be as close to zero as possible for a good connection. If could be +or- I think 7or8 and youd be fine. go Here (http://www.dslreports.com/tools) and do some testing and see what kind of speeds you are getting.

apologies for takin so long to thank you guys i am having probs with my line back and am gettin kicked 12 hours of 24 but many thanx and its good to experience these speeds on the web not @ college :p

I clicked on Heres the diagnostics page (http://192.168.100.1/signal.html)

and pasted 192.168.100.1/signal.html into my browser to look at the pages to see what they were, last night after work.

MORAL OF STORY: Don't do that when your too tired to think straight.
