hello everyone

I downloded a samll soft software calles burn-in from GNU that puts a lots of stress on the cpu.

when I run the executable file (purnp6) which is optimized for pentium II III celys... the vcore indicator goes down from 2.03 1.95v or 1.94v
is this normal or could it be a bad sign

PIII 750@966 (fsb 129)or 750@1000 (fsb 133) when it feel like;

MSI 6309 lite
vcore 2.03 (default 1.72)
640 mb sdram pc133
ati AIW rage128 16mb

:D

I guess its normal, mine does that all the time it hovers between 2.05 and 2.11V.

Just keep an eye on the +12V and +5V, if there's a big difference it might be your PSU.

I don't know how normal that sounds.

What are you using to monitor the action?

Use Motherboard Monitor.

What is the program that puts your computer into stress?

Try a different prorgram called "CPUBurn."

Usually when say you set the core at 1.6v, it will never stay 1.6 sometimes it goes up 1.63 or 1.64 I've seen it on my old system it can go down as well so I think its fairly normal and as everything works then don't sweat it.

normal would be if it dropped from 2.10 to 2.06 thats what mine does running Seti, but if your running something more intense it could drop a little more.

sam2001, it's all depends on how far you OC your CPU with X number of Vcore and most importantly, the quality and stability of the PSU. I am not talking about the wattage, as long as the power is enough to feed whatever the amount of power your oc'ed system needs, the PSU quality counts a bunch. The Vcore as well as the all other voltage lines will fluctuate more as you OC your system higher. This is what I had found out.. I OC my P3 1000E to the limit, sometimes over the limit and was unstable. Found out that it is the PSU that has reached its limit. Voltages fluctuated more. It just lost stability at this point because all the voltage lines were so close to the edge where it would drop beyond the safe range in the voltage fluctuations. After I've got the new Antec(top two ranking PSUs) PP403X PSU and done the Pot adjustments, not only I was able to get it stable at that OC'ed speed but it allowed me to OC higher and retain stability. You will be amazed by what PSU can do if you're a [H]ard OC'er. You will see more of unstability i.e. random rebooting if you OC higher and run CPU burn for checking stability. If you don't experience system unstability at your current OC in the CPU burn tests, no need to worry.
