I'm upgrading from an ATI Xpert 99 to a PNY Geforce3 Ti200, how is the best way to remove the old card and install the new one (besides a clean install)? I'm running W2K and I figured I'd do the following:

Boot into safe mode to avoid video drviers to be loaded into memory.
Remove the ATI Display driver from the Add/Remove programs
Remove all mention of ATI in the registry.
Shutdown
Remove old, stick in new.
Boot up in normal mode and load the nvidia drivers (which ones?)
Run benchmarks to make sure everything is par or better ;)

If my scores suck and there seem to be problems then I will do a total reload but would like to give it a try first without the late night reload. I'm still not sure on which are the best drivers for W2K so any help on that would be great too!

Thanks
mikey

mikey, i see no problem on the method. my personal favourite one is to make a fresh install of the os with the new drivers and stuff.
you could try out some new versions of the detonator then to make the fresh installation using the best one. id recommend you to test any of the XP: 21.81/83, 22.50/80 and 23.11.
removing the ATI registries is something youll never be sure, its difficult to find out everyone, thats why the new installation is good.
