This is probably a stupid question but I will ask it anyway. I am trying to put a budget upgrade together and have been reading up on video cards and cpu's. What I am finding with video is when someone ask about video card purchase someone ask what resolution you will play games at. So my question is does the monitor resolution limit what a video card can show and does it makes sense to get for example an 8800gt or is a 8600gt or 8800gts 320mb going to be enough for a monitor that has max resolution of 1400x900?
If I could save $50-75 on the video card I would put it towards a faster cpu. I was thinking either Intel E2200 and the 8800gt or the Intel E7200 and the 8600gt or the 8800gts 320mb. I don't do heavy gaming but would like the option to do some gaming.
