Episode I
Either I just fried my xp1700 or my main board went south. I had unlocked it before with defogger stuff but could only get the whole numbers to work for the multiplier i.e. if it was set to 10.5x it worked at 10x. I had also tried soldiering the L1 bridges closed but that did not work however it left soldier on the L1 bridge posts so then I thought I could possibly use trace tap to close the L1's and this is where I had the problem... I put on the tape as in the instructions, then I put on ASII and the heat sink no POST. Took tape off and still no POST. Might be time to go to Frys(hmmmm make that compusa I have returned to many things to Frys.) and get a Duron for testing
Episode II
Well it seems that I did not toast my CPU. I used a friends older t-bird 900, abit-kt7 and SDRAM that he was no longer using. His cpu would not work in my shuttle ak31 v3.1 but my cpu would work in his kt7. So I think my main board is bad. Still need to test memory though, most likely go over to his house tonight and test that.It is only $80.00 +shipping to replace the ak31 instead of $136.oo +shipping to replace the xp1700.
Episode III
I took my main board out and found that where one of the mounts for my Swiftech MCX462 was attached to the main board there was a resitor pushed of the tracy. So after soldiering the resistor on and putting everything back together I'm up and running again.:burn:
