Dead Power Supply!? !Help!

Ok, I just have the power supply, It's an Antec 400w that came w/ my Antec case. I don't have a mobo or anything else in there or plugged into it, except two fans. When I plug it in and switch it on, the fan on the power supply doesn't turn, and the two fans connected to the powersupply (by the 4-pin connector) don't turn either. It looks like nothing is happening. Is the power supply dead, or do i have to have a mobo in there to make things work?

you need to have a motherboard connected to power an ATX power supply. Older, AT supplies came on when you push the button.

Try this- bend a paperclip into a "U" shape. Find the PSU's motherboard power connector, called P1. Stick one end of the paperclip into ground on P1 (any black wire) and the other end into the green wire. The PSU should turn itself on!
