I saw this on dailytech yesterday. It's obvious Rock Band is the true succesor to Guitar Hero 1 & 2. Harmonix was pretty smart when they left Guitar Hero to make it.

Imitation is the finest form of flattery, or something like that, I think. HOW ABOUT THIS, let's milk the **** out of anything that is ever remotely successful.

This gets so old.

This is exactly like DDR.

The initial concept is cool, but they're going to burn themselves out sooooo quick doing this.

It's just TOO MUCH! First Microsoft, alledgedly, trying to put together a Wii controller... now Guitar Hero tries to be Rock Band!

I'm still waiting for that dish-washing simulator...

I've noticed a lot of people have this sentiment. IIRC, current GH guitars don't work with RB, so I can't imagine that GHVI will be compatible with RB and vise versa.

Seeing as I don't have Rock Band, nor a PS3 (yet) or an Xbox 360, I'm kinda keeping my ear to the ground on GHVI, specifically if they release a Wii version, or if I have a PS3 by then.

Are you kidding? RB is just about one of the most popular games currently available on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I'm still waiting for that dish-washing simulator...

I think Nintendo has that scheduled for the new Cooking Mama, but you could always wait for that Hell's Kitchen game that's in the works. Maybe the loser will have to do the dishes.

Don't worry, it's not us that are getting old, it's the new music that's starting to suck ;)

I understand it's a popular game, I played last night for a few hours with friends and it's a lot of fun.

The problem is that having 2 products that are essentially the same competing for the SAME market really does complicate things. Look where DDR is now, everything has been done and it's basically the same thing over and over with new music. It's popularity has also waned considerably.

However, not many people have the money to keep buying new hardware every single time a new GH or RB game comes out. What else could they possibly do with the franchise? They've basically converged on the same basic "band" idea, and there's no difference between the two games. I don't understand people who spend $170 on this every year or so, then complain when they don't have enough to buy GTA IV or COD4 :screwy:.

no, their talking about Guitar Hero 4.

Also, The owners of Guitar Hero said that right after Guitar Hero 2, they were already thinking about including other instruments, and expanding the game play. Rock band just beat them to the punch.

But you can't say it was rock band's idea. It was the natural progression of the Guitar Hero style. It eventually was going to lead up to extra instruments and such.

Saying Their copying Rock band is pretty dumb in my opinion. It was going to happen, They had the idea back when GH2 was released, just someone else beat them to the market. It also saved them money on Research and development, and build costs and such in case that style game would have flopped. Rock band did them a service, by shelling out the cash to test the market, instead of Guitar Hero taking the chance.

Yeah but they still spread.
A pub nearish to me I used to frequent on a friday night (they had live music, thats rare) has replaced the friday band with a friday guitar hero competition, because its just like playing real guitar.
God only knows how bad RB/GHB will be there.

No more cool unsigned artists, drunk ******** playing guitar hero.

Tweaked!

Um, My GH guitar works with my RB setup.

I'm looking forward to it. I really hope Harmonix releases a second part to the rockband as well, both games are fun and are a great hit for all ages.

Someone else didnt beat them to the market. The original creators of Guitar Hero are also the creators of Rock Band. They sold the rights to Guitar Hero after 2 and went on to create Rock Band. Guitar hero 3 is just an update to 2 made by the new owners of the game. The original creators could have easily just stopped after Guitar Hero 2 and naturally progress into Rock Band which is the real sequel, with no Guitar Hero 3 ever being made. But someone was willing to fork over alot of money for the Guitar Hero franchise, so they sold the rights and continued on with thier plans.

In the words of the great Homeboy Shopping Network...

"Mo' money! Mo' money!"

It is the other way around. RB guitar does not work with GH after the update.

Give it 5 years and video games will have become like American movies. There will be a bewildering number being released all the time, most of which you haven't heard of, but all of which have vaguely familiar titles and each will be totally indistinguishable from any other game in the same genre.

Well now I don't have to wait for Rock Band for my Wii,
I just have to wait for GH4, I do hope the release more music disks I would pay 30 bucks for another Disk with Music and another Career path, for the wife, I suck, at GH I'm better at Rock band on the Drums, but I like the GH look better.

What GH4 needs is a New Guitar that is like the Rock Band Guitar with buttons at the top and bottom of the neck, BUT have them different buttons, so you have 10 potential colours not 5, it would make it more challenging for the Expert player having to move hands up and down the guitar
