I just bought a new 19" Sony Trinitron monitor today, and it looked kind of blurry from the start, but I couldn't pinpoint the problem. I tried a number of methods to see what the problem is, and I found that when I have a black background and I draw a white line accross it horizontaly, the white bleeds into the surrounding black and makes the line look 2-3 times as thick as it should. When I make the same line vertically, it looks perfectly normal.

I have tried messing with both the brightness and the contrast, but I can't get any change in the way the horizontal line appears. I have also tried playing with the convergance, also without success. The problem persists regardless of where the line is on the screen. I have tried this using multiple resolutions from 800x600 up to 1600x1200, and have had the same results. If I disconnect my new monitor and re-connect my old one (17" Trinitron), the problem goes away.

If I don't get this fixed, I will exchange this monitor for another one of the same model tomorrow. If that one has the same problems, I'll return it for a full refund.

eh?

try upping or lowering the refresh rate, if that doesn't work then i would just take it back and not worry about it
