Just got a Duron 600. This baby overclocked quite nicely in my ASUS A7A266 (Volt modded) with 256mb PC2100 DDR.

Current system Stats :

ASUS A7A266 (Volt Modded)
Duron 600 @ 1012 1.85v
POS 250w PSU 5v Rail 4.72 (idle)
Visiontek Geforce 2 MX400
Hewlett Packard 10/100 ethernet adapter
56k Lucent Winmodem
Creative SB LIVE!
Western Digital 10gb ATA66

Nice o/c, but you are really on the edge with that psu/5v rail...

My 750 does 1 gig, but a 600? That rocks.

Thanx.....I know my psu sux. First im investing in a 400w psu then a new heatsink.....my heatsink sux....im just using a 120mm fan @ 18v to compensate.

Very nice overclock! All though I've heard of 1 or 2 others who say they've hit 1200mhz with their 600 duron's :eek: . To think I thought my 32% overclock on the 800 duron was sweet.

800@1058=32% oc (jbslow)
750@1000=33% oc (flounder43)
600@1012=69% oc (Carmine_Paterno)
600@1100=83% oc (FRANK)

It seems like those 600's are awesome overclockers.

Not bad, you're heading in the right direction.

Depending on the stepping of your CPU, with a little help in the cooling and power supply departments you could problably coast to 1100MHz. AKBA and AKCA cores are known to be top performers.

Nice job.

Good Luck!

Well for some reason when im in windows xp....It will restart after about 2 mins in any game at any voltage. I dont understand, i could play games all day and no restarts/freezes in 98 @ 1012 1.85v.

I definetly think that with better cooling, and a better psu i could hit 1100. Any recommendations on what heatsink would be best for this?

Also what psu should i get.

98 uses the 9x kernel where XP uses the NT kernel - maybe that is the problem.
Congrats on hitting 1 Gig!
A 250W PSU isn't really a good idea for overclocking, although Wattage isn't everything. Go for a big brand name PSU, like Enermax. My unbranded 300W is a bit weak:

5V = 4.82
3.3V = 3.27
12V = 12.48

The 12V is strong but I don't like the 3.3 or 5V rails.

As i overclock my 12v rail increases. I have no idea.

Actually i think it is the program called CPUCOOL. I've had it installed when i had my d750 and it did the same thing. Im gonna reformat and install XP again.

I think this is an amazing chip.....For my duron to hit the gig it would take about 1.98v, and now im cruisin @ 1012 1.85v.

Everybody has there favorites based on their experience. I've had very good luck with Global Win products both the FOP and the WBK series as well as the Millenium Glacator II.

Power supplies are the same, ask five people and you will get five answers. Currently I have a generic 400W from CompUSA in my box with an Epox 8KHA+ and a T-BIRD 1G @ 1.4, I'm running 1.85 Vcore and a 166 with no problems, I also have a "Premier" 300W that came with my Enlight case on my Epox 8KHA+ with an XP1600 @ 1.64 and a 156FSB. My best advise is when it's time to upgrade, buy the best that you can afford.

Good Luck!

I have an idea.....I have a 200w psu right now running my Celeron 266 @ 424 2.3v (2.0v default).

Just to do a test, should i try that with my duron system and see how high it will go?

Im going to try it. Wish me luck!

Hey guys, what are the codes on the 600's @1000+ ??? I've got AKAA's - anyone have the same cos only seen one or two in the database ???

FRANK

I haven't seen that code, I have two AKBA's and have heard good things about the AKCA's. The AKAA sounds like one of the early runs and I would guess that it would do pretty good.
But then again, I have an early socket A OEM 650 T-BIRD that won't overclock very well at all, 850MHz max.

Good Luck!

Well i put in the 200w PSU, and it turns out that my 250w is a POS. LoL.....i cant believe it, the 200 outdid the 250!

Right now @ 1012 1.85v, my 5v rail is @ 4.89 idle. A much better improvement over the 250 @ 4.72 @ idle. Plus, my 12v rail is @ 12.04, instead of the scary 12.8.

Right now anything above 1012 gives me resets, but if i unplug my cdrom drive, i get to 1038.

I use the a7a266 and I was just wondering how you oced so much did you go with jumperfree or the jumpers with an unlocked duron.

When using XP or 2K there will be many irq's being shared because of ACPI. I have been down this road before and had the same problems. Disabaling ACPI in the bios and reinstalling XP solved the problem for me as it gets rid of the sharing. This can be a big problem in some cases where the vid card is sharing with other cards.

BTW nice OC! I have a Duron 750 laying around here and the only way I could get it over a gig was to hit it with 2.4v at -25C talk about a LAME CPU! Now it lives life as a crash test dummy for my insane experaments :D

o boy.....you guys are gonna love this. Last night before i went to bed i set the speed to 1018 @ 1.85v, and it burned all night.

So this morning before i went to school i just kept upping it and upping and 1057 @ 2.05v seems stable right now. I actually got it to boot @ 1089 2.15v.

This chip is amazing.....when i get a new heatsink, and psu this baby will be running @ 1125+.

I had a Duron once, 600 @ 978mhz.

Don't let the Smoke out of it tho !

Well i messed around with it quite a bit and i score 2700 in 3dmark2001 with my mx400 @ default.

Now my chip runs @ 1064 2.14v. Im gonna burn it in @ this so it will run 1075 @ 2.14v also.
