My brother has a birthday coming up and I wanted to upgrade him from a single core am2 processor(I think its 2.1ghz) to a dual core, can't think of what else to get him. Problem is I usually only spend about $20-30 on him.

Newegg has the x2 4000+ for 49.99(oem is fine, he doesn't need a heatsink), but I was hoping to find something cheaper.

Thanks in advance

AMD's cheapest chip (single core) is about $35-$37 depending on where you look. You'll have to save a couple more pennies ;). You should also check the classifieds.

Yea I figured this much, even $5 less would be cool. I'm thinking the 4000+ is the cheapest but I'm not sure, that's why I ask. I've seen the 3800+ but not for less money

I agree its not much more, unfortunately ewiz shipping is kinda steep, about 10 dollars.

Will the 4400 clock much differently than the 4000? I haven't looked into amd since the skt939 days. So far its looking like newegg's deal is the best, but for 10 dollars more I may go for the 4400.
