Interesting read. Hits on a lot of the points that a few of us have brought up in various "zomg pc gaming is teh sux" threads that were cropping up.

Cool article, but man, it's sad seeing the Valve guy in such sorry shape. I smell early heart attack :(

Gabe Newell is no slouch (when it comes to understanding the game business, that is — he could stand to go out and run a few miles every day, but he'll either have a myocardial infarction or realize beforehand that he needs to). There are some smart and talented people at Valve.
PC manufacturers are part to blame for the apparent lackluster-ness of the platform with respect to gaming. Another problem is that *most* $400 computers *won't* play *most* games. This fact—a high price to enter (but it is DEFINITELY nice to be on the PC side of things) makes things harder for software devs and end-users alike to produce quality in quantity on the platform. Too, look at how lousy the "gaming OS" is...seriously.
(Newell is ex-Microsoft: when will we see HL2 or Source for Linux or Mac OS X...haha, only serious. ;) :burn: )

Kudos to Valve for getting this information out, I hope they continue to address these misconceptions about PC gaming.
