This doesn't surprise me, I mean, it is Microsoft after all....

The day that Microsoft even comes close to doing something right the first time is the day I'll actually shell out my hard earned money for an Xbox ;)

Hate to say it PC Girl but you may be waiting a long time, I still don't understand the hype about those things. You wait a bit and all those games for the X-Box will run on the PC Guaranteed. If not there will be an emulator I am sure to run them anyway, just an Overpriced DVD Player in my opinion. GeForce 4 is rumored to knock the socks off of what is in the X-Box anyway, I mean come on, 64MB of ram/733 Mobile Celeron is it really worth your hard earned cash? I would rather buy a PSX2 and still be able to play all my old PlayStation1 Games on it.

Just my two cents

I know, I'll be waiting a looooong time :) That's why I'm staying loyal to Nintendo and Sony

Hey now, darlin', let us not forget about Sega. Sure, they don't manufacture the Dreamcast anymore, but think of the savings! You can get the console for cheap, and it's still got some great games.

I own a PS2 and N64, and need to get a GameCube, but that'll have to wait a bit. And no, I'll probably not get an XBox ever. There are no "exclusive" games that appeal to me.

Heh, i know what you mean. Since microsoft owns it, don't ya think they're gonna release their games for windows too, since they could add a ton to their sales?

I might trade my N64 and all it's stuff in for credit and get a gamecube, i'm looking into how much i can get at PlanetX, they give awesome credits:D

And Sega rocks! Lol, my first video game was Sonic 1 for the genesis, way back when i was 6! I still have that original genesis and sonic game, lol...:p

The only reason I'd ever get an Xbox would be for Halo, but they're releasing that on PC anyways.

Oh, I have a Dreamcast too :D And a Genesis, and I used to have a GameGear (that was such a cool handheld). I actually bought a really fun game for DC a couple weeks ago, and it only cost $10....it's called Jet Grind Radio.

My roommate has a dreamcast, which means I get to reap the beneifts. And a Sega Genesis. I have the PS2 and the N64, and before too long, I hope to add a 'Cube to my phalanx o' fun.

Hey, I've heard some rumors of the daughter of the guy who own(ed) SNK is thinking of re-opening the America offices for SNK. But again, just rumors. But wouldn't it be nice?

Gamegear was good, GameBoy Advance is better.:D

Most DC games are pretty cheap, what with Sega no longer making DCs. You could probably get some pretty good games for pretty cheap. The only reason I don't own many games (just one, really) for the DC is I don't own the DC. I own the PS2 and a PC, and since most games I want for the DC are also out on the PS2 or PC, I just get those instead.

Linux on a dreamcast?!? I was just thinking of selling my dreamcast!! YOU MUST TELL ME HOW!! :p :p

What kinda processor do they have? isn't it like equivalent to a 400mhz pentium2? How would you save stuff? there's no hard drive, just 1meg VMU's.

Awww, that would be sooo sweet, dreamcast/linux...

If you look on the dreamcast, in the bottom right front by where the controlers plug in, it says "Compatible with WindowsCE." Just noticed it last night. Dreamcasts appearantly run off of WindowsCE.

SpeeDJ, how would one go about setting up Linux on a Dreamcast? If my roommate won't let me, I'll go out and get my own dreamcast to install Linux on! HELP US, SPEEDJ!

Linux on the Dreamcast?!?!?! That has to be the coolest thing I've seen in a long time!!!

Would someone be willing to burn that Linux distribution on a CD and mail it to me? Please? I'd pay all shipping costs...I can't download stuff at work and I have a crappy dialup connection at home... :(

PM with your address, I am hoping to get this done in a week or so since I have been aching to try it on my dreamcast as well.

J - Hope that helps

Yeah, that site linked above was kinda confusing. And it keep telling you to read someone elses document about it, but didn't seem to have any links to it.

I prolly need to go pickup a DC this weekend. If you install Linux, will it still run the old DC games?

that site kept refering to some guy's page, like how to make a bootable dreamcast cd for the linux, but i can't find it anywhere, in searches or anything...

And i get the impression i've got to make a serial cable for the DC... Am i the only one who sees this part? That'd be really difficult, i think.

Yeah, I was seeing lots of that too, so it kinda confused me more.

Got anything to add that'll help clear things up, SpeeDJ, since you seem to be the resident Linux expert?

We will see either way, I was doing some digging and found a couple sites that I am going to look into it a bit more, I promise once I get this done I will post the ISO's somewhere if you are wanting to try it out yourselves. http://mc.pp.se/dc/ that is one of the sites I found, pretty helpful for a few things. Here's another really great one that sells things like DC/to PS2 adaptors to run a standard keyboard. They all also sell vga adaptor so you can run your dreamcast on a PC Monitor for better resolutions. http://www.dcslinks.com/dc_main.htm I still have a bit more research to do to really get down to the nitty gritty and get the ISO Made and compiled properly, but hey it's a learning process.
