hey guys, I'm new to the water cooling arena and have a few questions.
First I'm looking at getting a Swiftech M462 waterblock and an Aheim pump. Will i need a separate powersupply to power this pump? I currently have a 400watt quality powersupply. System in question is a T bird 1.4/Epox 8K7A+.
also, in regards to peletiers...do they go under the waterblock or between the coldplate and the waterblock? Reason I ask is because I'm wondering if some waterblocks are designed for pelts and some are not?
thanks..

1) the Ehiem pump runs from mains power, you do not need anoher powersupply.
2) as i understand it the peltier goes in between the coldplate and waterblock, as long as the waterblock had a large flat base it should be able to take a peltier

If you want pelts with swiftec get the MCW462-BTEC

Actually, I don't want to mess around with Pelts yet...just keep it simple for now :)
the question I was asking about the power to the pump was mainly to ask if my 400Watt PS will be able to handle the pump as well as the normal work load.

It should handle it. As a matter of fact I think you can run one off of a 300 watt PSU.

ehiem makes aquarium pumps thay run on 110 volts nice and quiet. bilge pump for a boat runs on 12v not as quiet or as reliable
if you want to run off 12v get a high preformance fuel pump

I think your on the right track not using a pelt. I have a water system without a pelt and it does a great job. As for the pump, tie it to the ac on the power supply. You may want to find an ac fan for your radiator also. I have everything on a power strip and hit it then my pc.

Or do what I did and have a dedicated rad fan power supply. Mine is a 0-14.5V temp variable supply which I made, comes on with the pump (same power cord), and the comp is linked off that, so I can't power the comp up without the pump and fan on.

cool, thanks guys
I'm looking at the Swiftech MCW462 right now... What waterblocks do u guys use?
And is there a big advantage to 1/2" fittings, to the regular 3/8?

1) 1/2" is better. Same cost, more flow :).
2) I'd get a Maze 2 instead of the Swiftech, but they're both about equal.
3) It's "Eheim", not "Aheim" :burn:.

swiftech is harder to get all the air out of block

cool, I'll go with 1/2" then.

I was looking into those also, they do look better from what I've seen, cheaper too :) . I'll probably go with Maze.
