Oh neat! I just found that they had new drivers in March. Which makes me giddy because the sound is totally better as the previous XP64 drivers blew! I'll have to play through Mass Effect again now!

Finally. I'm using the modded unofficial ones, or was, until I updated to the new beta. It "seems" to sound better and may just stick with it while using the unofficial apps modded for Vista. And at long last, Alchemy is, or seems to be, free for us Audigy 2 users. Seems like Creative's been listening.

They still are refusing to support Linux in any meaningful way. I might as well dump the card I been waiting ages to use fully.

I can sympathize. But is there any good high end sound cards out there that have decent/complete linux drivers? My Audigy 2 sounds good on Kubuntu although I only use it for listening to medium-def. music and video on my 5.1 Creative speakers and do no advanced sound creation/editing.
If I knew my ears were sensitive enough to hear a difference between an Audigy 2 on my mediocre setup and a newer card which would hopefully have Linux support, I'd be more apt to buy one.

IF you have the emu101 sound blaster. You got about the best Linux "home" card. Past that, your going to be doing some cheezy stuff to get it to sound great.
The other option is to use post amplification and components. Better speakers can be used also. It's easier on Linux to just get a nice preamp/amp/receiver that accepts your cards output and use that.
There is other brand cards that work and sound well under Linux, but that might be best left for a thread under the Alt OS section or a new thread in this section for a meaningful discussion.

I picked these up just now. With the old drivers.. I COULD NOT USE my card! Not with vista32 or vista64. There was a 50/50 chance the card would work on bootup. No problems with these. :)
