Hi all, I've got a question about the factory unlocked Athlon T-birds, specifically, the 1.2 (266 FSB) model. After browsing some articles on Tom's Hardware, I came to the conclusion that some 1.2 T-Bird's clock multiplier aren't locked. I guess quickly glancing at the L1 bridges could confirm this, although I also came under the impression that 1.2's that are running at 1.85v by default, are unlocked. Not wanting to yank the HSF off (it's a coolermaster, and I don't really want to remove it until I get a replacement for it... I don't trust the clip on it for repeated removal and replacement,) I decided to try and up the multiplier via a jumper and the dip switches on the mainboard. I knew my voltage was registering at around 1.87v on my core, and figured it was worth a shot. I was successfully able to raise the multiplier to 10.5x (it was at 9x by default) and it registers as such in both WCPUID and in Sandra. So I've now got it running with a 10.5x multiplier with the bus speed set to 137 (274) giving me a cpu speed of around 1.44GHz (Sandra). Well, now that I've got it all oc'ed and stable, I decided I wanted to try and lower the voltage from 1.85 to try and lower temps a little bit, however changing the voltage settings on the mainboard (via jumper and dip switches,) however when I reboot, the voltage remains the same. Ok, here's my question: Athlons that have their multiplier unlocked from the factory... is the voltage on these chips locked to 1.85? Again, I don't want to pull the coolermaster off to look at the bridges (L5?) to see if they're connected. Is there any way (short of reconnecting the bridges) for me to get the voltage down any, or am I stuck with it at 1.85 (which registers as 1.87).

Thanks in advance and sorry I wasn't more brief with this question (as some of you get to know me, you'll realize I'm not very good at being brief.) :D

Tbird cores are all 1.75v @ default as far as I know.

I have my tbird in a Epox 8k7a @ default voltage and the bios and all other programs list my cpu as running @ 1.85v. I guess our mobo's are just built that way , overclocking friendly :) .

The voltage should change when you set it to a different setting.
Must be a motherboard thing.
