First off, sorry to pen a thread thats probably been asked and covered many times. The search terms "nvidia tv-out" produced nothing I could see even relevant to the problem.
So, here it is. I got sick of my HIS HD 3870 ICEQ3 TURBO No selling outside of the Classifieds!!! - muddocktor, so I bought ASUS 8800GTS G92 card.
Now the ATi card had an excellent easy to get going TV out feature. Now with the nVidia card (and I remember this problem on my old 7950, but didnt need TV out then), it has just the component cables. Which is great if you have a HDTV...I dont
S, I have a composite to scart cable which was great with the 3870. Is there anyway I can get it to work with the nVidia card?
Thanks for any help.
Just fyi, selling products outside of the classified isnt allowed, and with one more post, you should be able to see it.
Your 8800 gts should have an s video jack on the back, which can be converted to component or composite. Actually, hidden in the box that I bought the card were several adapters, you might want to try checking it again.

Sorry muddocktor, I didnt realise.
Diddyu, all that was in the box was a DVI to VGA converter, the component cable. A nice leather disk holder, the CD they bundle with crap on and the card its self unfortunately.
But you think that that funny looking port will take a S-video cable?
That funny little port is the S-video port for sure. And also, check the component cable, the end is exactly the same as an S-video cable. Hope it helps.
Edit: Here is a pic of the "tv-out" on this 8800GTS. It is the same as an S-video.

@Diddyu, I think they stopped shipping cards with an S-video cord and instead ship with the component cable because most ppl are hooking them up to HD tvs.
I didnt know about them quitting on the svideos, I got an svideo cable with my card along with an adapter for svideo to both component and composite.
Your GTS 512 came with an S-Video cable...? Wierd, I thought they stopped that because the last three cards I bought only came with the component cable (the ones that had HD support obviously). My bad for false juju, but I really didnt expect them to ship still.

Ya, thats the port. Your saying a regular S-video will plug into that?
There's alot more holes than the S-video cable I used to use.
The extra "holes" in the port are for the composite cable because it needs more to split the signal into a High Def signal. S-Video is the reg def so it doesnt need alot of holes. You are good, just plug it up and there ya go.

My last card (8800gts) came with a breakout pod that has component and s-video. The last video card I got that had regular S-video was an Nvidia 6600, it came with 6 feet S-video, S-video to composite, but no component breakout.

Works a treat. Thanks very much for the help!
We have 2 computers, one with a 7950GT (AGP) and the other with an 8800GTS (PCIe). They are both in seperate rooms, while the Panasonic HDTV is in the living room. I have tried connecting both PC's (not at the same time, obviously) to the TV using a 10m 4-pin S-Video cable and using the setup wizard in Nvidia's control panel and going through the other settings. The TV is recognised by the control panel, but all I get on the tv is a black screen, no signal. Rebooting didn't accomplish anything, except when connecting for the first time, so XP would "see" the TV. The TV is definately on the correct channel, AV3, as the socket has this printed on it.
Sounds to me like the res of your monitor wasnt changed to the res of your TV.
I don't see why they should have the same resolution, as they are seperate screens. Besides, it's not possible, since our 2 monitors aren't widescreen like the TV is. And my resolution, 1024x768 is the same in height as the TV's resolution height.
Ah, I see. When I had my 24" hooked up and then went down in size to a 22" for a lan party, I had the same black screen and it was because of the res difference. Does your tv have an HDMI port on it? If so, you can buy a DVI to HDMI cord for like $19 at your local puter shop or online for probably cheaper and it will give you really good picture, WAY better than tv out.
I am not sure about your problem though, maybe the cord I suggested will work. Are you trying to run the TV and your monitor at the same time?
Yes. And the Nvidia control panel has the option to use both. Can't use the HDMI as the computer we intend to use for this already has 2 HD flat screens. The S-Video is the only remaining port available.
