i've got a nice elsa geforce 3 runnin with the lastest drivers from nvidia. well i decided to take a look at the drivers that might be availible from elsa. while searching through the drivers for my card i found bios updates too.

the two files are:

BIOS Flash-Tool With BIOS v.3.20.00.10.05 PAL

&

BIOS Flash-Tool with BIOS v3.20.00.10.04 NTSC

now what i'm asking is other than the version what is the difference in these two drivers? what does the PAL & NTSC mean? and by updating the bios on my card will i benifit from anything?

NTSC and PAL are two standards used for TV's....for TV-out on your card (PAL is used in Europe and NTSC is used in the US and Japan.....there are more countries but I can't list them all, there are also different kinds of PAL, PAL-B, PAL-G and so on).

Also PAL uses (or can make use of) higher resolutions (Most modern TV's can handle both PAL and NTSC).

Flashing your card with a new BIOS might fix some bugs, but this is not always the case.

I would do some research before flashing the BIOS cuz sometimes the BIOS is made for either European or American cards, Again this is not always the case.

Example the Santa Cruz sound card is made for the American market and in Europe its called Sonic Fury made by VideoLogic, they're basically the same cards with some minor differences (Drivers might be incompatible).

Hope that helped

cool. that actually makes sense.

i just wish that they'd put info like that on the site. but, the card has no tv in/out, and it's overclocking fine so i think i'll hold off on that.

thx!
