weirdest thing

i'm using xp and i click on the start button and none of my recent programs are there. this has been about 3 days now and i've started programs left and right and still no recent programs in there.

i've looked through the properties for any setting pertaining to this but other than clearing it out or limiting how many programs appear i find nothing.

any ideas?
