Silly question Walter! Get that puppy folding! :D I think the screensaver/client thing is a matter of preference but It appears, as with v1.34, that the text version is quicker.

The new 2.17 text-only client now has timestamping which is pretty sweet IMHO. Nice to be able to see how fast your box is crunching frames.

So i should get the 2.17 text version for the best performance, yes?

Check out this (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=56133) thread. It looks like the 2.17 client version is brand new. Not sure how many people have switched over. I've been lazy myself and am still running the v2.15 text client on my boxes.

Haven't seen any posts regarding stability problems. I might just switch a box over today and see how it goes!

Ok, I got the 2.17 text version up and running. 4min and 30 per frame, how's that? It's a 500000 dynamic steps unit...
Thanks for your help Willy!

Glad to see you back Walter :)
Time per frame depends on the protein in question. Some are faster than others.

What's the best way to switch versions and keep the work that you've done. Can you just swap out the core file? I'm running both console and graphical clients.

I remember reading somewhere that you can rename the core while it's running and when it shuts down it will dl and new core. I don't know how well it works, but that may be all you need. I haven't tried it. I usually dl a new client when I get the urge and just wait till the work has been done. But you have to catch it or you lose a lot of work.
