ok..check this out> I have a p4 1.4 asus board, 256 megs ram, geforce 3 ti 200 ect. I did some overclocking and here are my results using {3D MARK2001}

Test 1:
CPU 1.39 @ 1.67 GHz
GPU 204/464 MHz
1024x768 32 bit color
D3d Pure hardware t&l
No antialiasing
Processor benchmark: 21270
Results/Score 6683--------------------------------------------------

Test 2:
CPU 1.39 default clock speed
GPU 175/400 MHz
1024x768 32 bit color
D3d Pure hardware t&l
no anitaliasing
Processor benchmark: 18413
Results/Score 6276------------------------------------------------------

Tell me why I should put my hardware in high risk of failure for a meesley 5-10 extra frames per second?

Thanks

With your setup, you don't really need it because you have high end stuffs. But even so, it's fun! And if you overclock carefully, you won't have a high risk of failure.

but still...I wanted better frame rates  Why wont OCing make a difference... :(

What do you need better frame rates in with that kind of setup? 6000+ is a LOT of 3dmarks!!

alot of the time it is more of the drivers fault then it is the hardwares fault. i suggest looking for all of the latest drivers for your stuff

Why overclock? Because you can...

I understand that 6000+ is a good mark, but on the online browser search results where you can compare results, everyone else has scores of like 10000 or better with the same system as me?

I am frustrated as you can see.

They're dirty liars. I have the same video card, here's my results:
http://gamershq.madonion.com/compare2k1.shtml?2050816

5509 marks with the latest drivers, Windows 2000 SP3, GF3 ti200 @ 188/421, Tbird @ 933

but..but... you cant lie? And try comparing your stuff to a p4 and tell me what ya get...muhahahahahahahaha eh..

actually they are not liars, they overclocked more and tweaked more, an many of them downgraded quality settings to get those scores, they should be commended......

At everything Default i get 2400 3dmarks
At everything where you see it in my sig i get 3600.....it only makes a difference if you have a lower end system.....

also 3dmark2001 is a video card based benchmark.....i actual games that use AI and the Cpu a lot more such as Unreal and Max Payne you will notice a much bigger difference..welcome to the forums and keep overclocking...

Then try comparing prices. :D

ok..i guess I am satisfied, but i still want more FPS... how high can you safely OC a geforce 3 ti200 anyway?

there are a few tweaks you can do to your vid card, that will raise scores as well, w/o oc'ing.

Raising memory........disabling antialiasing.......disable vertical sync....play around with that stuff a bit.

The performance increase will only be proportionate to the actual speed increase of the over clock, with just over a 20% overclock the biggest increase you will ever see is 20%, and thats only if it's the cpu or memory bandwidth holding back, I would have thought you would have achieved a high increase with the vid card memory overclock as well though, maybe you've gone a little too high as I've heard of some people saying they get improved performance when overclocking the core and memory on a vid card up to a certain point, beyond that it drops slightly and then beyond that is unstable, probabally due to more memory mis-reads/writes.
And I think you're exagurating a bit on the high risk of failure, unless you are pumping too much voltage through the hardware extra clock speed will do very little to harm the hardware.

ok..that does make sense..hmmmm. I actually just ran another test and I got a score of 7800!!!!!!! How did that happen? I dont even have it OCed? I didnt have my CPU OCed either :)

I just love computers..!

Thanks for everyones help ! I will be on these boards more often!

sorry, i misphrased that:rolleyes: .....but i do think that being able to get 100003dmarks at 1024x768x32 is quite an accomplishment.....

The reason I overclock... hmmm... Well no matter what my processor is only a P3 750... even at 1000 mhz... it's still a p3 750 and its nice to say that my 750 will kick the ***t out of yours...

even though mine runs 250 Mhz faster
