Dual Display Questions

I'm looking into adding a second video card (w/ TV-out) to my system so I can mod a 5" LCD into the front panel of my PC for displaying sytem information or diagnostics.
Has anyone succesfully used more that one video card simultaniously that they could tell me about?

$130 for the LCD and $35 for another video card is a bit of a gamble for me...
