I need to update the bios on my board badly. Thers been two updates released and I havent updated yet. Do i just download the zip extract to a floppy and boot to a:, or Im unsure of what I have to do.
Once im into the update application is is straightforward or do you have to set any options.
Thanks.

Rather than go over it all here, (I might leave something out) go back to the main page, Tips and techniques, go to the BIOS section, and read Marks BH6 BIOS guide. It covers all of the basics. BIOS flashing is pretty straightforward, but be CAREFUL!
One wrong move, and your're dead in the water until you get another BIOS chip, or have a friend nice enough to do a hot swap flash for you.(And that would have to be a good friend)
Is there really a reason to do a BIOS upgrade? Will it take care of a problem you're having, or add a function you need? If not, why take a chance?

Well i wanted to update it cause im running a7a266 which has been known to have a few bugs and I heard the temperature readings in the bios are wrong or off by sometimes even 10 degrees. So i wanted to see if the bios updates would correct this.
I never had any idea they were so risky to do

Once you know all of the steps to follow, it's not bad. But if you have a power outage while it is flashing, you'll end up with a dead board. That is a small, but real risk you face when flashing BIOS. I've done it quite a few times, and I've allways been sucessful. Do your research, make sure you have the right BIOS file, and the right flash utility, and you'll be fine.
I'm not familiar with your board, so for all I know, it may be one of the ones that has a backup BIOS.
For more than you ever wanted to know about BIOS, got to wim's BIOS.

I know the feeling, I lost my 1.33 T-bird last night. I'm back to my old trusty Asus P55T2P4 with a K6-2+ running at 500. See "how ironic" in the AMD CPU forum for details.
