View Full Version : how can i tell the difference in ecc ram stick and a non ecc ram stick
I have in my possession 7 sticks of 128meg pc100 and pc133 ram I pulled from other machines how do I tell by looking at the sticks which one is ecc and which ones are not is there an easy way and will it cause any problems if I mix them on boards

it should'nt matter,you can mix and match that ram.

As long as the boards your using them on support both kinds you should be fine. If the board only supports one or the other you can probably look up the product numbers on the manufacturers web site.

ECC should have 9 chips per side instead of 8 on regular. The extra chip is for ECC.:D
