hey all. the room mate and i are playing COD4 some how ever we can not play on the same server. one of us always gets kick when we try.
yes we both have copies of the game with different keys.
so y do one of us get kicked? ideas?

they are detecting the same ip. They kick you as an anti-cheat device so that you cant have one person ghosting for another or any number of looking-over-the-shoulder techniques
Yep its probably that simple. Have you tried different servers? ie both on the same different server

never had that happen in my house before. my wife and i play cod4 nightly
one thing that i have read before about people having problems with running multiple cod's from the same ip:
add this to your shortcut properties for one of the computers:
+set net_port 28961

That's strange, I've never played a game that didn't allow 2 people from the same IP to play. I've seen it black out your screen when you are dead to prevent ghosting, but not completely stop 2 players from the same IP.

I haven't seen where it was blocked, but when I used to LAN some CounterStrike they would automatically black out the other players screen if they were dead and you were alive. (To prevent ghosting)

I have played a few games that did that.... I cant remember which ones but thats where I encountered that (the kicking) but anyways the OP was resolved so thats great
