I just bought a case, the cheapest one I could find at Fry's and it actually comes with an Antec 380w Power Supply pre-installed for $39 after rebate.

Here is the info on it:
Antec NSK4480

You guys are always saying how important it is to use a good power supply. I hope this is a good one. It has both the new and old style plugs (sorry I don't know the names... (The 4 pin and the flat thing with the little right angle at the end?) It has 2 rails of voltage and even a PCI-E 6-pin plug. It will work with the old and the new and this case is actually pretty sweet. It has more fan slots then my old dell and even though it's smaller, it actually has more room inside? (Must be using that "Dr. Who TARDIS technology, LOL)

I guess (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=511180) you'll be OK (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=512807). :)
It's a Seasonic build, 80+ certified, almost silent.

Let me clarify that this PC will be used for someone who won't ever play anything needing a GPU higher than 128MB.

The PC that is going inside it is a 2.4GHz Core2-Duo with only a DVD burner and HardDrive attached and I might install a basic 128MB Nvidia GPU and thats it. It only have 2 Dimms. I think it has way more then enough wattage especially if other people in that thread are installing a Quad-Core with a 8800 GTX! WOW!

Is this Antec PSU reliable? I just want to know if this brand is one of those I'm supposed to stay away from. I know everyone says Corsair is the best. I installed a Corsair in my main Quad-Core rig and its way heavier and just seems like its a well built PSU but I have no idea? I'm just going by what you guys have said.

I hear stories about the power supplies going out and blowing the whole rig... YIKES! In that thread, nobody mentioned it burning up even almost 1 year later.

If this is decent, like that thread suggests, I'll probably buy another one. I have a Dell 3.0 Pentium IV w/ht that is a power monger and it heats up my room.

I'd like to build another PC just like this one and spend the $200 for the case, CPU, Motherboard, and misc stuff. If I can save a few bucks and reuse the Hard Drive and DVD burner.

Tommy,

I agree with Burebista as long as you keep it as a mild setup. While the experiment of running an 8800GTX is valid, I wouldn't consider doing something like that for the long term. The Earth Watts models are "lower end" quality Seasonic OEMs and are decent budget models.

Just make sure your new P4 MB build is compatible with the power connectors (ATX vs ATX2).
