E8400, 4 GB Gskill 8500, Raptor 150, 2 X XFX 8800GT SLi, on MSI 780i mobo. Riva T shows only one card, as does 3DMark. I got 15245 score with all bios settings at stock. Is this average for the setup or am I not getting the SLi boost? Nvidia shows SLi enabled. I am using this driver 7.15.11.6925 dated 12/11/2007. Is there a specific driver needed for SLi. Would appreciate some input.

It seems that 15k is about right for that cpu and sli, but the rt and 3dMark only showing 1 card is kinda wierd. Does GPU-Z show both cards?

And to answer your question, all new drivers support sli so I am to understand.

GPUZ is showing two or sli enabled. so i guess it is working in sli.

I'd say thats about right. I had 15.5-16k with my former overclocked E6600.
SLI is definitely working to get those scores.

Thanks for the replys. It's been years since my last SLi. Kinda fuzzy on setup.

Rivatuner doesn't say it is sli-enabled, however you can tell by going to temperature monitor and it should say temperatures for both GPU's, ie. core one and two etc. 3dmark06 doesn't ever say about Sli, not sure why. However when you overclock in RivaTuner both cards will overclock. Look in the Nvidia Contorl panel just to make sure it says it is enabled. My guess is it would be considering I get 16,000 with two 8800gts 512mb in sli, which isn't far off.

Rule of thumb is usually to test with one card before SLI and then SLI to compare results of scaling. :)

Those drivers are a bit dated, might be time for an update.

I get about 13k with SLI with stock speeds on my CPU...thats low. I think its my memory maybe. But when I OC the cpu to 3.4GHz then I get about 15k.

Seems low to me, I am beating it with one card...

I'll throw my Sli GT's score in the mix even though its with a q6600 (@ 3500) just for information/comparison sake . My score is 17645 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=6441871 , v/cards being at stock speed with older beta x64 drivers still in use .

The CPU is the most important part for 3dmark06 at stock resolutions. As the resolution is so low the benchmark tends to be CPU rather than GPU limited. I went from 15,600 to 18,435 just with overclocking the CPU from 2.66ghz to 3.6Ghz.

same chip basically....why run stock?

Because most people dont upgrade every 1~3 months or so, unless everyone is an extreme overclocker. And not everyone has sufficient cooling and RAM and good motherboards, casings and what not, basically there are alot of limiting factors. And once you try to get down to it, you realize that every other component needs upgrading for a complete set up. But thats just from an average consumer's point of view.

I just realized those scores were done with 8xAA/16xAF! With defaults im hitting 16.3~16.7k. Its weird how the same configurations give different results almost everytime.

14k is my top score @ 4ghz on my e6420 & 1 8800gt

Looks like 3dMark06 really favors the fast cpus. Id expect about 18k or more with sli if I could OC the cpu over 4ghz

I assume you're responding to his thread. If so, that's completely irrelevent! The E3xxx is similar the the E8xxx, that's what he is saying.

I do realize they are very similar. I answered the part where hes asking why one would run a CPU at stock speeds. And I merely explained not everyone takes the risk of OC for the specified reasons.
