I am completing the build of my gaming computer. I have two XFX 8800GT in SLi with a 780i NB. I also have a physix card laying around and wonder if it will inprover performance. Anyone here tried this yet?

To be honest, I would avoid it. Sure it makes explosions look a bit better, but it actually decreases FPS in games due to the extra calculations. If you want better physics then wait for the GTX 260/280 where it is built in. That physics card might sell well too as they seem quite expensive.

Use it, if you don't like it, sell it. If you actually have the thing and you are going to need the PhysX drivers installed for some games anyway, then you might as well give it a try.

Lookie here:

Shows clearly that frame rates drop when playing games. Some games it isn't so bad, but I wouldn't use it as it isn't efficient.

I was going to install the Physix card to run a test with 3d06 and my last slot is a PCI-e not pci which is what the card is. So it is a no go on this mobo.
It would have been interesting to see what I get with just SLi and then add the Physix card to Sli and chart the difference.

someone else will have to do that one.

just see how it goes. If you got good FPS, then have a go, some of the detailing looks better when you use the physx.

see how it goes, and you decide

edit: just saw you have no way of using it lol

Its a toss up. Yes there it looks better, yes it will come at a higher expense due to more graphics being processed as well. Question is do you want it to look better and be more realish, or are you ok with stock?

As well drivers are suppositly coming out here soon that will give us physix's power on the 8 and 9 Series cards as well for the same options as well.
