Is 55c ok? am running it with a ThermoEngine Ultra topped by a Delta 45cfm fan. I only stuck this combo on last week, yet its only 2c cooler than the stock sink and fan.... I was expecting to get it down to at least 40/45c

i have got my lian li alu case on order, but theres still no reason i can see that for the cpu to be that hot, epsecally that i have so much air blowing through this machine, about 200cfm

Are you using any kind of heat sink compound?

Seems quite hot. I'm running a similar setup to you and I'm in the 40-42C range. Are you using Arctic Silver or similar?

What also must be considered is whether your hs is sittting well it might need adjusting. Also if you recently put it on there is apparrently a period of time before you will see optimum cooling for that hs/fan combo(how long ... i dunno ).But your temps are quite hot.

I have a similar problem with a 52 c load temp with the case closed and 46-47 open. so i sent for a fan ,shim, and some Arctic silver 2 for the hs to replace the compound i have now.. Until then my overclocking is grounded.:(

My 1.3@1.5 got up to 61 the other day...ouch  I cleaned the HSF, it was really dirty, that helped a lot, plus I needed to turn on my case fans....

I don't have the same heatsink as you, but cleaning it might help. That HSF should be doing better than that, unless your case temps are super high...

Am using the Arctic Alumina Thermal compound, the hs is sitting really well, but it still hot to touch(52/54c)good heat transferance from the cpu. Motherboard is the gigabyte 7zxr, am really stumped on this one!
