I think its time for a graphics card upgrade, and I've found the card i want.. but it hasnt been in stock in weeks.

anyone know where else this item might be stocked?? seems to be rather hard to find, its the Palit 8800GTS 1GB Super.

That is ridiculously expensive for an 8800GTS. You should just pick up the 512mb version.

If you really wanna pay too much for a video card, go to the local Best Buy and grab this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8800372&type=product&id=1205538349548

As a bonus, you can step it up to a GTX 260 or 280 in a week or so :)

well it may be a bit expensive, but it's still a bit less expensive than 2x 8800gts 512mb cards

I liked the sound of 1 beefed up card, especially since i'm not sure the next MB i purchase will be SLI capable or not

You aren't gonna see squat for improvements getting the 1GB over the normal 512MB one :) If it was that much better, they would all come with 1GB

By the time there's a game that will use that 1GB memory, the 8800GT core probably won't be able to run it ;). Waste of money. Pick up a GTS 512 or GT512 for a lot cheaper.

i was figuring the 1GB would help out a bit more running my games on my 24" samsung, at high/max settings :)
i was looking at some benchies on it, and it kept up or beat SLI'd 8800GTXs

I would just get a 8800gt or wait for the new cards coming out this week.
thats a lot of money for a gts.

I hope you aren't talking about the newegg review where some random person said it was faster than a pair of GTX playing COD4 :)

Stick with what you have for a month more and get a 4850 or 4870 (1GB). Buying that 8800GTS is worse than buying a 9800GTX. :( The 4870 1GB will be the same price plus loads more performance.

i was debating whether to wait, seeing the release dates comming ever closer for the 4870/4870x2

lol no ratbuddy, i was referring to a review in which they put it against 8800gtx in SLI and even tri-SLI 8800gtx, it held it's own agains tthe dual cards :P
i usually don't rely on Newegg reviews

Even if you don't wait, for about $30 more you'll be able to get a GTX 260. Hell $370 is enough for a pair of GTS, another $80 gets you a GX2, etc etc. Serious waste of money for a GTS.
