I just installed FAH 5.04 on a lappy with a Pentium M 1.86GHz I put it in the FAH directory and when I try to run it in the console I get the following message:

Launch directory: C:\Program Files\FAH
Executable: C:\Program Files\FAH\FAH504-Console.exe

looks like all ya gotta do is wait & it will take off working

but then again just a beginner here

Two things will cause that error:

1) The server is rejecting connections, and there's nothing you can do about that.

2) You have made a setup configuration that FAH has no work for. For example, one time I gave the client setup a value of 256 MegaBytes to work within, by mistake. I got this error for over an hour, until I realized my mistake and re-did the setup by running the client with the " -config" option.

There are no SMP units available if you restrict the FAH client to 256 MB of RAM to work in. :D

So I'd run your FAH client with the " -config", or " -configonly" start up options, and double check your answers to ALL the options (not just the memory).

I had that same error and it lasted until I reset my router and DSL modem, even though I could access the internet from the same computer. I have no idea why it was doing that.

I came in this morning to find 3 machines asking for work too... but I just stopped the client and restarted, picked up work this time.

So it's probably just a server problem.

Assignment to 0.0.0.0 is like Adak says in # 2, no work is available for your configuration. On 5.04 if you specify less than 64 MBs of ram you'll get assigned to 0.0.0.0. If you select WUs without deadlines you'll get assigned to 0.0.0.0. Again as Adak says in #1 if the work servers matching your configuration are down, or out of work, you get assignrd to 0.0.0.0.

All my clients are hosed now.. I have the PPC client for OSX, my 2 Linux boxes and the lappy with XP.... I can't get any new WU from stanford..???

Is my ISP messing with me or is there a problem with the servers?

I reset my modem and router and restarted all cleints I think I rebooted one or 2 rigs too [just in case]:bang head

Yeah I pinged the servers IPs at Stanford, came back fine... everything but the OSX client had work when I left for work... I tried to post from work, but the damn IT dept is blocking forums now apparently. Oh well all systems are up again...:attn:
