To edit/make or play dvds?
I use powerdvd to play dvds and Ulead video editor 6.5 pe to edit dvds.
WinDVD and Interactual Player
I have WinDVD on my desktop and MPEG express on my laptop. MPEG Express does a better job (less droped frames) with much less horsepower. Maybe it's my video card though (I gotta upgrade this GF2mx400 soon).

i use windvd because powerdvd didn't work well with winxp. even powerdvd 4 (xp) kept crashing, but as soon as i got windvd - perfect . . .

win dvd and win media player 8
I also use PowerDVD. Home theater guys seem to currently prefer either the ATI player or the TheaterTek player but I haven't kept up recently.
Power DVD and WinDVD are the only ones that have ever worked for me. And the former gets my vote.

personally, i think powerdvd is king. windvd and a couple others i tried just sucked (as in choppy video, sound problems, misc. random -not suppposed to happen- crizzap).
