well i have a severe lack of funds but i also have a need for more speed :p, i cant get higher than 933 on this processor so i was thinking of just upgrading the processor to like a 1000e or somthing.
do they make those in slot 1? or am i just out of luck?
if they do make them where can i find one? lol

the slot 1 1000E will not overclock too well....i suggest you get a Slocket and a PIII1.1GHZ cDo and ytou could probably reach 133bus for 1.33ghz.....this will run you about 150$....

oh yeah, for 150 dollars a 1GHZAthlon(70$)=ECSK7S5Amobo(50$)+ Micron Ram (35$).....i think that may be a much better deal because it also gives you two computers.....

a slot 1 1ghz would probabally only overclock to about 1.1~ghz which isn't much of an upgrade, especially for the price.
what you could do though is get one of these Powerleap-IP3/T (http://www.powerleap.com/Products/iP3T.htm)
And a tualatin core p3 or celeron and overclock it

BigRed,

The Slot1 1000E cC0 is available but OC'ability is probably maxed out@ 1250- 1300.

why don't you get a slocket for about $18- 20.
Along with a FCPGA 1000E cD0(OCs betta than 1.1Ghz in terms of FSB, hence give higher memory bandwidth). If you have a good mobo, you will hit 1333mhz or higher. It seems difficult for 1.1Ghz cD0's to do 133fsb comfortably. Good luck mon.

The high slot one processor won't overclock well and their cooling for them is hard to find that is efficent.

I agree about buying a good brand slotket and a Socket 370 chip and then cooling will be much easier and it'll more overclocking efficent.

I think the Slot cost way mor ethan the Socket 370 as well since people don't know about slotkets.

Yea, Yodums is right. Googlegear (www.googlegear.com) has the P3 1000E in slot one, but it's $210. You'd be better off getting a slotket and a P3 1000E. It'd still be cheaper.

well i think i have an asus slocket stored away somewhere, ill try and find it
and i have the gaskets for my slot 1 swiftech so i can use that with the slocket.
wheres a good place to buy the correct stepping of 1ghz p3?

i have heard of many people getting them from www.star-components.com

how much can you spend? I still think a 1ghz p3 is a pretty pointless upgrade from a 933, have you tryed extra voltage to get the 700 higher than 933 yet?
I think your best bet is either the tualatin compatible slocket I suggested and a tualatin p3 or celeron, or to just save and get an athlonxp system when you can afford it.

think of it as an upgrade from a 700 to a 1GHZ or one from 933 to 1333

the cDO 1000E p3 is only available as an oem (SL5QV) chip so it would be tough to find, if he ends up with a 1000EB cDO then he may not be able to overclock it at all as it could be something else in the system thats stopping him getting above a 133mhz fsb with the 700, and even still it's only likely to be a small overclock, 100-200mhz which still isn't much of an improvement over 933mhz.

Phil has a point.

Even if you had a 1gig E at 1333 it would not be too noticeable from your 933 unless you ran benchmarks of course.

Its like throwing away a good chip..

the next step up for fsb is 140mhz and the computer wont post at that.
ive tried removing all but 1 stick of ram and all my pci cards and all my hard drives but still wont post so i beleive its my processor

and i have $165 max to spend right now

and i need a faster processor cuz my cpu is holding me back on my games and 3dmark
and im geting a kickass case soon with uv lights and such so i need speed to match the awsomeness of the case
i just thought it would be fitting for me to have a 1ghz for the first time with my new case

The PL-iP3/T that I suggested is $169 and that includes a 1.2ghz tualatin celeron which you should be able to overclock to 1.6ghz, I don't know if the old 'knock 200mhz off' system works with the tualatin core, but with the coppermines a celeron was about as fast as a p3 clocked 200mhz slower, so if that is still true of the tualatin then it would still be as fast as a 1.4ghz p3 which is more than you are likely to get from a cDO core.

i would suggest the 1.1 as the 100gsb 1.0 is a bit on the expensive side, there are several vendors at pricewatch selling the 1.1 cDo PIII....

also the problem with the Powerleap is that it undervolts the cpu and without doing serious mods to the adapter itself most poeple are not able to get past 1.3 with the Celly 1.2....

... awsomeness ..

I love that word. I need to start using that. hehehe... :D  Good match for a P3 1000E@ 1450 hehehe....

You could just do the wire trick, you'd only need to download the spec sheet from intels site to work out how to do it

i bought that swiftech a while ago and now its just sitting there all lonley, it wants to be installed! :) hehe and my 550w enermax will be here soon and i can actually use the pelt now.
are the FCPGA p3 1ghz all the cd0 stepping or are some of them cc0?

the 1GHZ 100mhz fsb is all cDo but the cheapest one is 150$, i suggest the 1.1 which is ALL cDo and about 135$....

they've moved the 1ghz p3 over to the cDO core but there are probabally still some cCO's about, plus the only 100mhz fsb cDO is an oem chip so you'll have a tough time tracking one down.

No my friend William. I know at least few places where they got it. BoyRacer's got one. and there's another place I found. There are more out there I just didn't have time to find them all. All you gotta do is just One clickkkkk and pull out your Credit Card (Visa/Master/Discover) American Express card optional (http://www.compgeeks.com/result.asp)

ive seen lots of 1ghz p3 100fsb processors on pricewatch, would you happen to know the part number of the cd0 processor?
