View Full Version : Need help, no boot
Got home from work today, turn on the comp. got into bios and changed the fsb and multi.(took out the vod mod. last night and lowered the speed), no boot, reset, changed again and this time nothing is running, no harddrive activity, no monitor.
hm..reset the cmos, same thing happpen, took out memory, vid card but the mobo didn't even beep, just the fans running. Took off the hs, check the cpu, still nice a pretty, clean the AS off, put new AS on, resit the sink, put only the vid card in, no beep, not a thing going on (just the fans)
What's the problem guys,,,plzzz helpppppp:(

Did you try using normal Duron 750 speeds? (100x7.5)

yes, I tried like 20 times, long time, short time, tried them all. Does the comp still go to bios if the cpu is dead? will it boot at all if the cpu is dead? I hope the cpu is the problem , I don't want to lose a $80 mobo, too pooorrrrrrrrrrrrr aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

hmm... does it even show the post screen? Or is it total blackness? If that is the case the cpu could be dead. :(

no, you will not see the bios/post screen if the cpu is dead. =(
:( I have no way of testing the cpu to make sure this is caused by the cpu. Here is another question to make sure
If its' dead, will it make heat? because I turn the thing on and after about a minute the sink started to get warm (no fan on it)
I really hope the cpu is dead, not the mobo, I read at the other post about the mobo's bios chip might be dead and cause the same problem. :(

yip, a cpu can be dead, but still heat up. You're going to have to test it with another processor, or plug your processor in another board.
You may consider taking your rig to a local shop. A lot of them are willing to test your processor for you, or test your board. Just depends on who you deal with.
