First of all, please forgive me ignorance, I haven't crouched since the move to BOINC, but am looking forward to getting back into the mix.

I currently have 5 quad cores and a couple of dual cores that I'm setting up on BOINC. I just finished the first and it looks to be crunching a bit slower than I expected, so I just wanted some confirmation that it sounds like its working correctly.

Specs:
Vista 64 w/ Q6600 @ 3.6GHz

I followed the sticky and installed AK_V8.0.

I'm currently watching BOINC in advanced mode, it is about 10 mins into the first set of WUs...one per core (4 total). After 10 minutes, each core is roughly 8-9% completed, but time to completion for each is roughly 5.5 hours.

I'm thinking that the ETA to completion is wrong, but...

Does this sound about right? I'd like to confirm that I have the optimizations working before I start on the other boxes.

Thanks guys!

My C2D at 2.66 finishes most WU's in just a bit over an hour. You may want to go into Task Manager and see (by clicking on the cpu tab), just how your cpu cycles are being used. Seems like SETI is not getting nearly all that it should get.

To see if your optimizations are running, look at the process names in Task Manager.

I have the same thing when I do a fresh install of BOINC. Its always started working fine within a few days. Wait till it finishes a few WUs and see how long they take.

BOINC assumes you have a stock client and it takes time to realize that you are more effecient than expected. Be patient and watch the time drop and the rac climb. You should be around 1 hour per unit (4 units at a time).

Agreed! When you first start up BOINC in a new rig it shows unbelievably slow times. But if you watch the count-down timer you'll see it's skipping several seconds at a time instead of using the standard 1 sec intervals.

Never fear, I'm sure your machine is crunching correctly ...! :)

Thanks for the input guys. Unfortunately storms knocked out the power all day yesterday, but hopefully I'll have everything up and running by the weekend :)
