I was lapping my waterblock last night. Finished and it looked real purty... then I mounted it and popped everything back in. It did the normal bios stuff. Loaded windows. Then I started up Asus Probe. Idle temps were normal. Then I started up CPUBurn... Hehe... the temp jumped to 128 then 130 something... then 160 something... then 178 and I pulled the plug... I did this a couple more times before getting the block seated right... I think within that hour... I took at least 5 years off the life of my Processor...:p Oooops:eek:

LOL Not good.

Well at least you knew that it was going wrong.

Seeing how you had Slot one you could have shined it in the light first to see if there are gaps before you move on.

Ouch that is hot. I'm glad you did not fry your cpu. So now after lapping does it run any cooler?

I guess you got nervous when you were tightning the bolts and afraid to kill the core eh?

Glad it didn't though.
Great improvements man I haven't seen on average people getting water cooled temperatures of 17 degrees.

Must be because I'm more use to looking water cooling on AMD and your Intel must run cooler than the others...

I cheat a little though.... I change my water twice a day with nice cold tap water and add an additive to nutralize metals... called Start Right.... If I let it go without changing the temps max out at 24 idle 29 full load... still pretty good but I like it cold. Seems like if the water is cold what little airflow I have is colder:p
