View Full Version : Help name the Slow team!!!
We need suggestions for a name to use as a single username for our slow computers (500 and slower). Lets see if we can get to the top ten on our team just pooling together our slow rigs. Fold on everyone:beer:

"Molassas_inda_Wintertime"
I'm not to sure about the spelling on molassas. Kinda long but more descriptive than Turtle32. Just random hodgepodge. I'm good for that:p
Those sound good let's have some more folders:beer:

Would that be The Fifth Turtle or The Turtle Column? ;)
Could be Team Philliam!
Of course there are other names.. Return of the Celery, The ISA Strikes Back, Luke Slowalker, argh... or something simple like Sludge. :D
how about we lift the finger and have the "down with seti" folder.
wait, if you think you could make it to the top 10 with slow machines, why not just have them fold for good ole team number 32???
i dont know but eating all of that paste cant be good for ralf

I would suggest making a User name that all the old machines will use! like: TheTurtle

top ten of our team members:D Slow machines folding under one username.
I didn't get to mention this before because my internet connection flaked out on me but I ddin't realize that the SETI Team was already using Team Turtle. Maybe or maybe not but I think this team has more pride in itself than that and we can come up with our own name. Of course, I can't contribute anything so just tell me to shut up.
That is a good idea. no team turtle.

Centipede. Hundred small machines moving the collective body in a common direction.
I really honestly think the user name should be Yatta  Just my opinion, as it's really original and it really first started in these forums. I do like the fact that you guys are taking the initiative and getting all involved in naming the team. I wish we had done that for our seti teams, it's a great way to get people involved.
Just my two cents, fold on guys
J
Are there any objections to the name Yatta? if so please give a couple of suggestions. Once we get a few more names maybe SpeeDJ will make a poll. I am going to dig my p-200 out of the closet tomorrow and get her up and Folding.

Team Intel. Many P4's trying to keep up with the AMD's. Oops, wrong pentiums.

I just wanna remind you all that I (lennytiger) had the idea of this slow folding team, and just to contribute that Yatta looks good for a name!! ;)
ok let keep bringing up names for a day or so more and then shadow or speedj can put up a poll.
Could be a tossup between Yatta and Centipede. So far those are the best choices I think.

Yes lennytiger you get credit for the idea but like most ideas it has evolved into it's own now if we could just just put a name to this beast. Fold on everyone:burn:

Hows a bout "The Old Fold". Most of these machines are over the hill so to speak.
I'll have three machines in this class I guess, my wifes 500 K6II and my 366 and 466 Celerons. 'Corse I'll overclock the Intel stuff to as close to 500MHz as I can. It ain't near as tough as these damn T-Birds.

I like Yatta or Centipede. Whatever it is, once I get my P166@200 serving my DSL connection, it'll be folding under that name.

No need to underclock. It would slow down your folding and that would not be good for the team. are there any more suggestions for a name?

How about 16RPM. Wasn't that the slowest speed on old record players?

I think it was 33 1/3 rpm, older ones were 72 rpm. I'm not sure what the very first ones were though.
