Network cuts

I have a Zyxel P660H-D1 modem and a Dlink DGL-4300 Wrouter. Sometimes my connection cuts, meaning I can not use internet or download or upload. Although my connection is not cut as I can see from the icon in the task bar. I have checked for viruses and spyware, and deleted them. But this still happens not so often now but still. I don't know if it's a hardware failure or something else? The connection gets back after a while, sometimes 10-30 minutes. I have tried once to reboot my router from the web browser and it started to work instantly. Using Vista Home Premium.

It seems to be a communication issue between the router and modem. If it were to happen again power cycle both devices. Log the issues... you may possibly need a firmware update on your router.... if inet connection issues continue get your modem reprovisioned or replaced by your ISP provider.

i had that same issue i have a DGL-4300 also


is it a modem you got from the ISP? also, where is the modem on the splitter (presuming you have cable?) if its split too much loss could be killing your connection.


i had a webstar modem from time warner and i had the same problem, i upgraded to a Dlink cable modem and those issues dissapeared most of the time the modems you get from cable co's are crappy now because they're cheap enough for the company to eat the costs. they do charge you rental fee's sometimes which more or less pay for the device ten fold. and when you get a new one they demanded the modem sent back for some other sucker to use.

I'll check the router log next time I get a fault.
