EDIT: Getting considerably better total ppd running Win SMP (5.92) w/ GPU2 over a VM and GPU2. W00T!! :beer: (kinda getting sick of the VMs anyway)
EDIT 2: The above statement isn't so strong with the larger GPU2 WUs. The smaller ones had less affect on WinSMP. And with the 1.06 core, WinSMP is further affected. I may try a VM again!
I'm still concurrently running my Ubuntu VM. PPD on that guy is ~3K ppd on p2605s.

I shaved off about 5 seconds going from stock to overclocked. This resulted in ~500 ppd increase. Running about 70C with stock cooling.

Just for the heck of it, I installed the GPU client on my laptop to see what kind of numbers it would produce compared to a real 8600GT...

Not too fantastic, but better than running 1 or 2 standard clients. Not sure I'm comfortable running this 24/7 on a laptop for long periods of time though. GPU temps hover around 70C, which isn't terrible, but uncomfortable for a laptop.

Unlike my E8400, on the Q6600, the VMs are marginally affected by the GPU2. I guess there's more bandwidth for the GPU core process to jump around between the 4 cores when it wants. However, the GPU2 does suffer about 1K ppd loss.

Today in the mail I received an Accelero S1 rev 2 heatsink, along with some fans. The 8800GT is beautiful naked. :D I ziptied two 80cfm 120mm fans to the heatsink, and it probably shaved about 20 degrees celsius off of my GPU2 folding temps. And even though the fans are loud, they seem quieter then the stock fan at 100%, not as high pitched.

4517 ppd. Download RivaTuner unlink and OC only the shader clocks. You should be able to get them up around 1900,which should add 800 ppd to your output. I'd also give the fan a bump to around 80%. THe memory clock makes no difference and, while some claim the core clock makes a difference, I see little difference except for the heat the card puts out.

4517 ppd. Download RivaTuner unlink and OC only the shader clocks. You should be able to get them up around 1900,which should add 800 ppd to your output. I'd also give the fan a bump to around 80%. I have fahmon working now, 4507.83ppd, was 'hung up' @28% for some reason,but the in-progress WU was at 76%; not sure what that was all about.
Ah, the shaders, I recall nitteo or ? mentioning those. Should I stop the WU while adjusting those? I recall the ATI gpu units would frag if left running during adjustments. My xfx9800gtx is at 1850 for shader clocks, maybe jump them up a bit too?
you can play with the clocks while the WU runs.
The 9800GTX should be able to run 2000-2060.
