This is my first time here. I'm looking for some kind of an answer to my problem. I have posted in several other forums this same question and I want to compare answers I get.

I just built my new system and have a AMD 1600+ XP chip, when system goes through the post info, it reads out that the CPU is 1250+. I bought a 1600+XP (1.4). I went to AMD website and downloaded a CPU id program from them and it says 1048.62.
I also recieved another link from another forum to check the CPU id and it also read the exact same thing 1048.62.

Now my thinking is that it should read ... 1.4xxxx something as it is (suppose to be ) a 1.4 mhz chip.

Can someone explain to me what have I really have. I have also been told that AMD had some chip that were labled wrong too. Can't confirm that though. I have contacted AMD and haven't recieved any reply from them as of yet.

System:
IWILL 333-R XP mobo (raid not enabled)
AMD 1600+XP
128 pc2700
Maxtor ata133 40 gb hdd
G Force 3 ti-200 64mb vid

Thanks

if your FSB was at 100 mhz instead of 133 mhz a 1.4 G chip would run at 1.052 Mhz. VERY close to what you reported....

Go into the bios settings and set the fsb to 133, the iwill board for whatever reason set's it to 100fsb sometimes.
Also you might check the jumper jp31 pg 7 in the manual and make sure it is set to 133 but sometimes they still boot at 100 in auto.

I have the jumpers set to 133, but where in the bios is the setting for FBS. I have looked and there is NOTHING there that has anything about FBS. The IWILL instructions book isn't worht the paper its printed on if you ask me.
Is it in the Iwill Smart setup page??? if so EXACTLY where??

It's in the iwill smart settings section.
They call it cpu clock.

No problems. I have been lurking about these forums for a week or two, just started tweaking on an athlon xp1700 on a soyo dragon plus. With any luck I will have it unlocked next week when I get some time to do it.

I figured I would jump in on a thread that I knew the answer to...
