I have been thinking about building another computer. Nothing too fancy. I am looking to spend no more then $200, but less then 200 is even better. I am just in need of a Mobo and a CPU(Not ddr) that is what i need your opinions on as to which mobo and cpu to purchase, and from where.

CD Rom drive and a Monitor prices i am still looking at so if you could recommend me a good monitor for a nice price it would be greatful.

Thanks

At newegg.com:

Epox 8kha+ $103
T-bird 1.2 266fsb $96

IMHO thats a nice combination. Look around on their site and I'm sure you can find something to suit your needs (and wallet).

Look at my signature.

Of the possible combinations I would recommend the Epox 8KHA+ ($104.00) with the 1G T-BIRD ($75.00). With the KT266A chipset, the 8KHA+ will run at 160+FSB quite easily and the 1G T-BIRD will clock just about the same as the more expensive 1.2GT-BIRD. Another option would be to go with the Shuttle AK31+ (?), this motherboard also has shown promise with the KT266A chipset as well, for considerably less money (about $80.00). The money saved on the motherboard could be applied toward the CPU, in this case I would strongly recommend upgrading to an XP1600, which could be had for about $115.00.

Good Luck!

Read his original post guys. He does not want a DDR board. For an SDR board, I recommend the IWILL KK266+ and best bang-for-buck CPU has got to be the Tbird 1.0G. With the two, some quality RAM, a quality HSF and a quality PSU, you can run 1.5 Ghz easily.

On the Tbird 1.0ghz should i get the 200FSB or the 266FSB? which one will overclock better? Or does it even matter?

Thanks

If at all possible definately get the 266FSB. You'll get all around better performance, and the (133) chips are just better performers...especially for overclocking.
