alright i was checking out the Evo 720 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341005) and thought it would be alright but i didnt like the fruity fan and the efficiency on it.

i came across this for the same price: same rebate

no fruity fan, bigger fan to suck more out of case, better efficiency (not 80Plus cert...yet). no modular though.

all the reviews i am seeing are pulling the same max wattage as the evo but with better efficiency

figured it was worth pointing out, i am probally gonna order one on monday (err later today)

Bought one in the last Newegg sale and got it for 39.99 that time. For that price, and even for teh 59.99 price AR it is a great deal. I am liking mine so far. It is powering my q6600 rig without any noticable fan noise, and blowing out only cool air. My guess is that it has three times as much power as I am drawing to spare. I like the finish on it and especially like the size (very small) since it allows for better airflow.

I know it's based on the ripple happy Epsilon design, but my experience so far has been 100% positive.

The Evo is a better built unit. It is a 3Y OEM (FSP owns 3Y, but it is still their exclusive build), the StealthXStream is the standard Epsilon OEM which is known for it's terrible ripple problems.

Has anyone actually had a problem directly caused from the larger than normal ripple?

It's also possible that "something" was done to minimize the ripple on these newer OCZ units. The last two reviews I read of the StealthXStream series had 12v ripple in the 70's under a larger load, but that's well within spec. If I remember correctly some of the Epsilon reviews were showing that ripple was over 120mv at times.

Either way, my system is purring along beautifully, but I don't know how much of that has to do with the 8-phase PWM design of the P5K Premium, which I am sure is designed to help compensate for the effects of ripple.

that was what i was thinkin, as long as its in spec, and i am seeing that it is, i dont care.
honestly it'll have less ripple than my current smart power PSU, when i bought it "oh yea its a decent one" after i bout it "oh no its crap" and yea for once i say its crap but not for the same reasons they give, mines hella old and one of the fans never worked, thats why mines crap.

any way my new PSU should be here soon and i can get back to my usualy speeds

Same here. Just installed it to replace a 7 year old 320W Antec. Running an 8800GT just fine. Its amazingly quiet...If you don't check the lights you can't here anything at all.
