The longer you wait to buy the 4870, the lower the GDDR5 prices will get, and the cheaper the card will be.

The memory is going to make the card have a high premium for the first few weeks.

Someone has a contact at Fry's who stated that the release price should be $300. We'll see how supply and demand works out along with price gouging although ARi cards have been less prone to that than NV cards in the past but maybe only because they weren't always the best performance option.

The newegg search page says they're in stock but when you click on the page for them none of them are in stock as far as I can tell they were posted at 12pm est and were sold out probably half hour later. Unless its some bug and newegg is just updating thier inventory again.

I don't mind that, I have had good luck with Sapphire's in the past. And it was the Powercolor that was out of stock. I really can't believe I clicked on the Buy button. I haven't played a game on my PC since GTA4 came out and since Crysis my GTS has handled everything I throw at it with ease. BUt the specs of the 4870 just impress me so much. Besides it will go good with my current planned upgrade of the 2 WD6400AAKS's I have sitting here on my desk. :drool: :beer:

Yep I placed my order 5:30pm west coast time for a sapphire. I live on the east coast though so maybe its just quicker for them to wait for their east coast stock to replenish rather than ship from CA. If they don't ship by tommorrow I'm gonna email them.

dropped the hammer and ordered a sapphire 4870.. even know i swore off sapphire and ati after i lost a x800xl, x1950pro and x1950xt in a months time.

lets hope this new card kicks my old 8800gt to the curb (aka the wifes pc :P)
