Hey guys...which HSF do u guys recommend? I have these in mind.

Alpha PAL8045 w/ 48.5 CFM YS-Tech 4-pins Fan @ 36.9 dBA

Thermalright SK-6 w/ 40.1 CFM YS-Tech Fan @ unknown dBA

Millennium Glaciator II w/ 29 CFM Fan @ 36 dBA

As you could tell, I'm going for the quiet feel. So which one would it be? SK-6 being most expensive to Glaciator II being the least. Thx...late -wU

The Glaciator isn't quite dangerous due to it heavy weight?

Sockets are very secure. While weight becomes an issue with transportability I don't think it is otherwise.

Exactly, you really don't wanna know what my PEP66+Peltier+3/8 Inch thick ~5x5cm copper coldplate weights, and all of that hangs on a slocket:p ...no problem so far

**EDIT** I've also put a 92mm fan on it:D

Get a Glaciator.

Then replace that 29cfm, 36 db fan for this 31 cfm 28 db fan. More air moves and bout half the noise, and the Glac is quietest by far stock, REALLY quiet with this fan, moving a good amount of air.

That is 8 db less noise which is like 3x quieter to the ear!!!!!!

Looks awesome. What's the best place to get a Glaciator? I don't see them very often.

How hard is it to change the fan on a glaciator??

Oh, and I agree with everyone, I have a Glaciator 1 and its great.

I'm gonna stray and say PAL 8045, while i havent tried a glaciator 2 I do have some qualms with the weight. And the SK6's noise is unacceptable in my opinion. I think its good that we're seeing a shift away from delta screamers on heatsinks.

Totally...the combo of microfins and high pressure fans make for a racket that's beyond tolerable. I've got the SHE series 80mm Delta but it's slower than the rest (5500 rpm) and the swifty doesn't make much turbulence - it's pretty aerodynamic. Another thing.....microfin HSFs are like air filters! They trap all kinds of dust, which ends up degrading their performance geometrically over time. Not fun to pull off the fan and vacuum them out every month or so (I have 4 cats and 3 dogs in this house).
