hey all,
i was wondering, does instillation of an aftermarket cooler like the Accelero open up significant overclocking headroom for the 8800gt?
i hear the accelero's are rather large, with a mid tower case and not a lot of room, is it possible to fit 2 8800gt's with accelero's?
finally, is there a large increase in cooling if the accelero's are run with the fan units?
thanks,

My clocks are ran everyday and I never see temps above 63-64c under load since it started getting hot outside and I am on stock cooling. If your card gets hot, then absolutly the oc will suffer. However, I cut some tin away from the stock cooler on my BFG card and it runs ALOT cooler than it did. I maxed out my cards oc without going to aftermarket cooling because heat was never an issue with my particular card.
If heat is an issue, I would double check and see which coolers have enough clearance for the sli bridge to span the two cards. I see some cooling solutions that make me wonder how the bridge can fit between the cards in order for sli to work. Like the accelero and the HR-03. But in the HR-03's defense, it can be mounted on the back of the card for the one on top and then regular for the bottom card.
If you end up getting aftermarket, let us know how it all turns out and if you can sli the cards.
I have the S1 and am very happy with it. Was able to get my core/shader and memory all higher. I also have the fan attachment for it, you cant hear it at all.
As for size it is quite large, but I do not think any mid-size cases will have a problem with it.
~temps.. (When its been 85F in my living room, the card never went over 50c load.
Idle: 37
Load:45
Ambient:30
Can you SLI with that cooler though?
