drive weridness

alright i have a 160 gig Hitachi hdt722516dla380 (data sheet (http://www.hitachigst.com/tech/techlib.nsf/techdocs/AA48E77F6E24186E86256F4E006B3F91/$file/T7K250_DS.pdf)) thats being strange, it clicks but it doesent go click click click, jut st random it'll click and then not do it for a while and mabe click again, no power managment so its not going into suspend.
it'll also pop up in a window at random, its been repartitioned and reformatted (was thinkin of selling it), i checked the cables and theyre all fine but it just keeps popping up like i just plugged it in

i also ran HD tach and its hellatiously slow, any ideas?

There is a thread in here somewhere about "acoustic management" - I believe there is a utility you can download to set various options on the drive itself. Altho, maybe it was a WD drive...
