Was ready to flash my BIOS... when I realized my board didn't even detect my floppy drive. All connections were correct; floppy drive to the FDC1 connector on-board. I'm sure the drives weren't the problem since I've tried over three, nor the cables. Is it possible the port itself is dead? Or is it disabled in BIOS?, tried enabling some settings to do with the floppy drive, still didn't detect.

Hopefully Evilsizer sees this since I didn't get to ask him how safe the ALT-F2 method is.

For reference:

I'm assuming I just burn .BIN file with some program (Nero let's say), and on start-up... ALT-F2 and then it automatically updates from there since I don't know whether I'm prompt to type in "runme.bat" since that's for floppy flash.

That is rather strange. Did you try a different Floppy Cable? Your cable might not be good. Or the floppy drive is dead.

Now let me ask you, did you try flashing it before prior to this?

Quick question, is the light constantly lit up on the floppy drive?

No the light does not light up, not even spinning up during boot. Never flashed before, I still have the version from initial launch release. I've tried different cables already, the one's that came with the drive and the ones included with the board.

The drive is connected in to the board, no issues physically... but no signs of a floppy drive being connected.

It goes:

Floppy Drive --> Flat Floppy Cable --> FDC1 header on IP35-PRO.

EDIT: I asked one of my friends, he said there's suppose to be 2 (?) cables? Huh?

In the BIOS under Integrated Peripherals you have Onboard FCD Controller set to Enabled, under Advanced BIOS Freatures you have Boot Up Floppy Seek set to enabled and a Floppy as one of your boot devices, as well as Drive A set to 1.44MB, 3.5 in. under Standard CMOS Features?

I enabled the floppy seek, and at post it said it failed.

Did I miss the power cable to the drive? What the... (if I did, epic failure..)

Is the power plugged in? (I've done this many times on floppy's.)

No. wow, :confused::confused:.

<---- EPIC FAILURE.

I'm looking through my boxes, I don't actually know what I'm looking for other than a 4-pin cable.

It's a four pin connection, It should be on your PSU already. Looks almost like a fan connection (3 pin) but flatter and wider.

Edit: yep, looks like you found it.

Gosh, hopefully this thread gets buried in the archives and no one brings this up about me, lol.
